My first real walk

East Calder Park

6th of January 2008
My owner got up this morning feeling well rested and ready to face anything, pulled on her combats on top of her jammies, dreadful I know but it was 8am and a Sunday morning, who would see me!! She got schumacher and myself ready and off we went down to the Almondell Park, There was a few cars in the car park when we got there which surprised me,my owner pulled her scarf a little tighter around her neck hoping her pink jammie top was not popping out the top of her coat.
Off we set on our first real walk outside the village, She let us both off the lead as soon as we got into the park and it wasn’t very long before we bumped into our first new friend, He was a black Lab, then we met two boxers a couple of jack russels, a very grumpy black scruffy dog, he didn’t like anyone. There was big and small, fat and thin, all types of dogs down there today, every one of the owners stopped and passed the time of day with my owner, She enjoyed herself as much as Schoomie and I did. I was in my element. Bouncing about all over the place, Most of the dogs seemed to realise that im a clueless puppy with not a lot of sense and didnt seem to mind me hopping about, Schumacher behaved like a true lady, She didn’t growl, bark or misbehave at all. Very impressive I thought to myself.
It took a good two hours to get around the park, saying that we did stop for a coffee and a bit of shortbread in the wee cafe half way round the park
It was that muddy in parts of the park I looked like I had black wellies on; My owner should have taken her camera with her. She put a cover over the back seat of the car hoping they I would sit still all the way home, but she had no need to worry at all, as soon as we got into the car and it started to move we both were out cold. When we got to the house she said that I had turned into a typical boxer, totally ignoring her when she was trying to get me out of the car. All I wanted to do was stay where I was and snore some more
I had my dinner when I got in and they crashed out on my blanket with Schumacher cuddled in next to me.
My owners new years resolution is to take us there every Sunday (as long as it’s not bad weather or she,s taking us somewhere else), I’m sure all this exercise must be doing her the world of good, I remember hearing her saying she was thinking about joining a gym a few months ago, if she keeps up with all this walking she will be getting lots of exercise and fresh air along with it, no need to join a gym. also I will have a couple of well exercised well behaved well socialised happy dogs. Who could ask for more,

White Boxers are Best

The best thing about having a dog is having an excuse to go places you would not normally go. Also it is amazing how many humans as well as dogs, stop and talk to you when you have a dog with you.
I have been very lucky having wee Schumacher, my Yorkie, she hasn’t as such been trained but over the years she has picked up most of the human language.
She has taught me so much in the last few weeks, things like because she stays beside my human when we are out on our walks I do the same, I have never pulled when my human puts me on the lead. I have been watching the dog whisperer and I try to take in what he is saying to his clients, My human always go through any doors small gaps or gates first, and she always keep me on a loose lead. Even when they meet other dogs she doesnt keep us on a tight lead like other dog owners. she likes to see her dogs running around the park with other dogs,
I also think that someone who has a dog and who is willing to get out there and walk the lanes paths and countryside seems to be a nicer sort of person. Okay their dress sense might not be designer and they won’t be the kind of person you will find in the gym, but they will always have a few moments to spare to stop and have a wee chat to you and a smile for you as they carry on their walk. That on its own is really nice in this day and age.
Having a White Boxer pup can be a little bit of a bind for a human when out walking, as I say it is nice to stop and have a chat with total strangers, but because white boxers seem to be so rare just about every single person I meet wants to stop and give me a cuddle. It takes ages to get where were going. I can’t comprehend that breeders would even think about euthanasia.
When my human see’s her wee bundle of boxer joy hopping about the park like a kangaroo, she just about burst with pride. she doesnt care a toss if the kennel club won’t recognise her pup!!!!!! well at least that is what she told me, the more she gets to know me the more shehas fallen in love with both myself and the boxer breed, the fact that I will never be recognised as a show dog because of the colour of my hair, well all that is telling me is- what kind of racist bigots are running the dog world.
The other thing that really annoyed me about buying a White boxer is we are less than half the price as our own brothers and sisters just because they have brindle or tan markings. Don’t get me wrong I was happy getting my human, she is not rich and couldnt afford paying what the breader was wanting for my brothers and sisters,£650.00, more than twice she was asking for the white boxers. Same mother and father!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you imagine if you as a human were not allowed to enter a competition because your hair was the wrong colour!!!!! There would be uproar,
I’m not deaf, or blind, at 13 weeks old I can sit, lie down, fetch. I walk to heel on the lead I’m house trained and always come when my human calls; I am very sociable and welcomes both humans and dogs alike. I’m as normal a boxer dog as a brindle or a tan or even a flashy one. It surprises me in this day and age the like of the kennel club get off with not recognising a dog because of its colour...
A white Boxer dog could be a prise spieces of the boxer breed but because of its colour, and the decision of a few ignorant people the White Boxer puppy gets ignored and (in most cases killed at birth) and not given the chance.
The thing I don’t get is that Poodles are all different colours, Collies, Spaniels, Great Danes, Do they get picked on or ridiculed by these so called dog lovers. Because of a ridicules decision how many perfectly healthy White boxer pups like me have been destroyed. I understand that some are deaf and others can be blind, but my human has been on line and has read that its only about 19%, realisticley that is not very many at all, should something like 19% rob the chance of other normal boxers being kc registered. Looks like it.
I'd rather be white and happy with my human.

the 17th of November 07

THE SEVENTEENTH OF DECEMBER 07My owner had always wanted a boxer dog, so after her old yorkie had passed away she thought she would have a wee look about on the internet to see how much we could get a boxer pup for. The least expensive one was about £500.00, there was no way she could of got that sort of money togetherShe then got intouch with the scottish boxer society about adopting a boxer. A wonderful woman called Joyce came to the house to vet My owner and her son, along with the house/garden of course. And they all passed with flying colours. My Owner was really pleased and started to look forward to adopting a dog. That didnt last long as the woman at the boxer society called my owner up and because of the hours she work, the woman said my owner was unsuitable for being a dog owner. The thing I didnt know was dogs can tell the time, Boxer dogs dont like to be left more than four hours, the hours my owner and son work means that the dog would of been left an extra half hour on its own. And that was only two days a week. She even asked for a dog that could not tell the time but that was not taken very well at all. So that was that. my owner was very disapointment , she had really been getting excited, it was like someone who didnt hace a clue about her or her family had burshed her bubble.Never mind If its for us it wont go passed us she thought to myself. That weekend she was back on line searching with her fingers. She came onto a puppy finding site where you put the breed of dog you want and the price you can afford and up pops a list of all the availible pups in the uk. She hadnt been holding my breath or anything and you wouldnt believe the suprise she got when She saw the advert for three white boxer pups for sale about ten miles away from the house, She sent the woman who was selling the pups a email giving all her details, That night She got a phone call to say the pups were £300,00 and she could go up and have a look to see if she wanted one, Her Son again wasn't too pleased, he didnt fancy a white boxer dog. But they had a chat and desided to go and have a look at the pups anyway.I had two days to surf the net to find about white boxer dogs. I found out that a lot of white boxers were born blind or deaf, well 19% which to her didnt seem a lot really. The kennel club dont recignise boxer dogs because of this. Thats why the pups were going so cheep. The Saturday came sooner that she thought, getting her son out of his bed was a hard job, his face was tripping him, a bit like half a mile of bad road as my old mam would say. It didnt take very long to get to Shotts, she got the directions on the internet and less than half an hour later we were standing outside the Boxer KennelsThe breader took them through to the kitchen to see all the pups, straight away her son picked me as i was pure white on with the brindle eye, the other two were pure white. I followed her finger, and when she clicked her fingers behind my head I turned around straight away. Well I'm not deaf of blind She thought to herself, She have to say anything to her son, he had made up his mind that I was going to be his puppy. My owner gave the breader a deposit and arranged to pick me up on the 17th of November 07, two whole weeks I didnt think I would be able to possible wait that long.My owner then spent the next two weeks on line finding about boxers, buying beds, leads collers food. She was going to be totally orginised for the arrival of myself. She even got me a wee jacket, a green barber no less, The only fight my owners had about me was my name, my owners son had already desided he wanted a brindle boxer who was male and had no tail. Now they were to get a white boxer who was female and had a tail. Now life is funny and sometimes you dont always get what you want, sometimes you get something better.Anyway back to my name, My owner thought of names like Daisy, Lilly Sweetie, Jessie, lodes and lodes of cute girlie names, but her son wouldnt listen to her, Sylar was the only name that he would even consider. Since My Mun was getting her bonnie wee girl she was passed caring what my name was to be.
So my owners son got to choose my name and it was to be Sylar . Something to do with the si-fi programme Heros on the tv.
I have been named after a serial murderer, targeting evolved humans with abilities, but doesn't discriminate against killing anybody who stands in his way. What can I say to that? I supose I will get used to it.

welcome to my blogger
